NUDISTIQ

How NUDISTIQ finds events

To keep the events directory accurate without anyone searching the web by hand, NUDISTIQ runs a small, polite program that reads public event pages about once a day. It identifies itself as NUDISTIQ-Events.

What it does

  • Reads only pages that are public and that the website allows automated programs to read (it follows each site's robots.txt). Where a page is built by JavaScript it may be opened in a headless browser, which identifies itself the same way and obeys the same rules.
  • For the Places directory it also reads open map data from OpenStreetMap contributors and the public websites of hotels, resorts and campgrounds.
  • Also reads public calendar and news feeds, official platform interfaces (APIs) where we have permission, and event announcements that organizers email to us.
  • Waits between requests, never hammers a site, and asks for a page only if it has changed.
  • Collects event facts only: the name, date, general area, what kind of gathering it is, price and the link back to the organizer. Street addresses of private homes are never stored or published.
  • Always links back to the original source and says where the information came from.

What it never does

  • It never logs in, joins private groups, solves CAPTCHAs or works around a block. If a site asks automated programs to stay away, we stay away and an editor checks it by hand instead.
  • It never publishes adult sexual events, and unclear listings go to a person for review before anyone sees them.

Organizers: take charge of your listing

If we list your event, open it and choose Claim this event. Once you are confirmed, you can edit it, cancel it or add more, and the automatic program stops touching it. To be left out entirely, or if we got something wrong, contact us and we will remove or correct it promptly.
